About us

MAKING LEARNING FUN, AFFORDABLE AND ACCESSIBLE TO ALL!

Sharing Skills is a Community Interest Company set up to bring people together to share practical skills with those who would love to learn.

Over the last 20 years, Directors – Simon and Gemma Mcfarlane have renovated their home and upcycled everything in it, picking up useful practical skills along the way and learning how to be resourceful. With an interest in this and an acute awareness of how we need to change our actions to protect our planet, they found people wanting to learn skills and others wanting to share them so Sharing Skills CIC was formed to bring people together to learn from each other.

We also provide projects to promote a circular economy in our local community.

Gemma Mcfarlane is a trained chef who worked as a pastry chef and cake baker for many years. Gemma has a passion for improving access to good food and is on the steering group of the Lewes District Food Partnership.

Simon Mcfarlane spends his days working on websites so enjoys any opportunity to use his hands-on skills. He can often be found pulling apart 90’s mountain bikes and making them into practical, everyday bikes whilst campaigning for better cycle infrastructure.
